About my "Stallery"The Stallery is Stallery is my gallery and workshop in Rosendal. This small town in the eastern Free State is acclaimed for its abundance of art and galleries, making it a delightful destination for visitors from all over the South Africa and the abroad with an interest in creativity. Once I saw this town, I moved from the hustle and bustle of Gauteng to start a new life and art initiative here.
I was born in 1975 and matriculated at the HoŽrskool Randburg in 1993 having done art as a subject.
I completed my National Diploma in Fine Arts at the Technikon Pretoria, majoring in painting and art history. Other subjects were Figure Drawing, Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture and Ceramics.
As a freelance artist I do a lot of commissioned work with my biggest assignment being 26 portraits in oil of the staff of the Faculty of Engineering of Tswane University of Technology.
In 2001, I attended an art course with KZN artist, Anton Benzon, who encouraged me to concentrate on landscape painting.
My first solo exhibition was at Coetzee Roux Gallery in 2002 after which many followed.
I love to travel throughout South Africa to gather information and inspiration for my landscapes.
About my work
Spontaneous freedom and honesty is the feeling which is derived from my oil paintings. Light and form plays an important part in the creative process. The work is not static and totally realistic within which movement, light and atmosphere can be experienced.
